Our transport capabilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Shamick Transport mainly operates in Victoria and extends Australia-wide.
We currently have one depot located in Laverton North, Victoria. As we are not a general freight company, our fleet is generally parked at our depot. For inter-state transport, our drivers are required to follow fatigue rules and will then park up at designated rest areas.
*Note that the Southern Australian and the Tasmanian local government have yet to publish an official list of rest areas for heavy vehicles. We will update this list once they do.
Permits are required for jobs that require the use of special routes/roads. This is usually the case for over-sized loads.
Our team has extensive experience in obtaining these special permits and we can definitely assist in securing one for your transport needs. Permit applications are approved within 28 days, depending on the load and the pick up and drop off location. Please take this into consideration when requesting for a quote.
Route inspections are conducted prior to the actual transport of a load. This is usually required for over-sized loads and will be required in some permit applications.
Contact our team if you need assistance in conducting a route inspection.
Any load that exceeds the maximum legal length, width, height, and/or weight is considered to be over-dimensional. Over-dimensional loads will most likely require at least one pilot vehicle.
You can find more information about general mass and dimension limits from NHVR.
Also known as escort vehicles, the main role of a pilot vehicle is to make the transporting of over-dimensional loads safer for everyone on the road. Basically, pilot vehicles are used to warn other people on the road of the existence of an over-sized vehicle.
You can find more information about pilot vehicles from VicRoads.
Colloquially known as PODs or delivery dockets, these are available on request. We would appreciate it if you inform us prior to the job being completed.
We take pride in our strict adherence to Health and Safety (OH&S) guidelines and this applies to everything that we transport. Our drivers ensure that all loads are secured properly and see to it that we deliver on-time and with no issues. Additionally, for your peace of mind, all loads to be transported by Shamick Transport will be covered by our Goods in Transit Insurance.
